The three-day International Facilitator Training and the Transnational Partners Meeting of EmpowerHer were successfully completed, hosted by OLYMPIACOS SFP

The three-day International Facilitator Training and the two-day Transnational Partners Meeting of the European programme EmpowerHer were successfully completed at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF), with OLYMPIACOS S.F.P. serving as the organiser and host of the initiative.

The activity marked an important preparatory step for the next phase of the project, bringing together facilitators and partners from the participating countries. The aim of the training was to provide substantial preparation for the people who will undertake the implementation of the EmpowerHer pilot activities, which are expected to begin in October.

During the three-day programme, participants had the opportunity to get to know one another, collaborate and exchange experiences through theoretical presentations, practical workshops, interactive activities and co-creation processes. The training focused on key topics such as participant support, safety, data management and the adaptation of activities to the needs of each local context.

The diversity of the facilitators added particular value to the training process, as they came from different countries, academic fields, professional backgrounds and experiences. This diversity of voices strengthened the interdisciplinary character of EmpowerHer and contributed to the creation of a meaningful foundation for collaboration ahead of the next stages of the project.

As part of the training, the EmpowerHerLife application and the practitioner portal were also presented. These digital tools have been designed to support women after breast cancer by offering personalised exercise, educational content, motivation and opportunities to connect with the community.

Following the completion of the three-day training, the project partners had the opportunity to visit the Olympiacos Museum, gaining first-hand insight into the history, values and social dimension of the club. This experience was a special moment within the programme, highlighting the broader role of sport as a vehicle for social contribution, connection and empowerment.

Immediately afterwards, the programme continued with the Transnational Partners Meeting at the offices of Olympiacos. Representatives from all partner organisations took part in strategic coordination discussions, reviewing the next steps of the project and the planning of the upcoming pilot phase.

OLYMPIACOS SFP, as organiser and host of the three-day programme, made a decisive contribution to the hospitality, coordination and successful implementation of both the International Facilitator Training and the Transnational Partners Meeting, actively underlining its commitment to initiatives with a meaningful social impact.

Warm thanks are extended to IEK ALFA for the participation of two students from the School of Coaching, who were trained within the framework of the programme and will play an active role in the pilot activities.

We would also like to warmly thank the Association of Cancer Patients and Friends of Evros Prefecture – SynechiZO for the participation of a member of its Board of Directors in the training, as well as for its contribution to the exchange of experiences and to connecting the project with the community.

Finally, we would like to thank Pizza Fan for its kind sponsorship, which contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the three-day event.

With the completion of the three-day programme, the project now moves dynamically into its next phase, with facilitators and partners fully prepared for the implementation of the pilot activities and for the continuation of an initiative with a meaningful social impact.

EmpowerHer: A Pioneering European Programme for the Empowerment of Women after Breast Cancer

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, we present the European programme EmpowerHer, an international initiative in which Olympiacos S.F.P. actively participates. The aim of the project is to provide meaningful support and empowerment to women who are undergoing treatment or have completed their journey with breast cancer.

What is the EmpowerHer programme?

EmpowerHer is an innovative European project coordinated by the University of Valencia – Department of Physiotherapy. It is a multidisciplinary partnership that brings together universities, technology organisations, and healthcare professionals — oncologists, nutritionists, psychologists — with a common goal: to create a digital and community-based support framework.

The programme focuses on three key pillars:

Specialised Exercise: Tailored to the needs of patients.

Education: Providing reliable information on health and wellbeing.

Social Connection: Creating a community that promotes mutual support.

Participation in the Research: Your voice matters

At the current stage of the project, an important research study is being conducted through a questionnaire. We invite women who are currently undergoing treatment or have completed their treatments to share their experience.

Why participate? Recording your real needs will help develop tools that can meaningfully improve the quality of life of women across Europe.
