The European EmpowerHer Programme Comes to Piraeus with Two Major International Activities

| EmpowerHer

Piraeus will host, from 11 to 14 June 2026, two major international activities within the framework of the European programme EmpowerHer: Empowering Breast Cancer Survivors through Exercise and Social Support, in which Olympiacos S.F.P. participates as the partner from Greece.

EmpowerHer is a European programme co-funded by the European Union, aiming to support and empower women who have experienced breast cancer by leveraging physical activity, social support and digital tools. Through a comprehensive exercise programme, educational material, a mobile application and support from specialised facilitators, the project seeks to contribute to improving women’s quality of life, well-being and active reintegration into their daily lives.

As part of the activities that will take place in Piraeus, the Facilitators Training Course will first be implemented, namely the international training of the facilitators who will undertake the implementation of the programme’s pilot activities in the participating countries. The training will include theoretical presentations, practical workshops, co-creation activities, a presentation of the application and the practitioner portal, as well as sessions related to participant support, safety, data management and the adaptation of pilot activities at local level.

the same time, the International Partners Meeting of the project will also take place, with the participation of representatives from all organisations of the partnership. During the meeting, partners will discuss their readiness for the implementation of the pilot activities, organisational and technical issues before the launch of the pilots, communication and dissemination of results, data collection, impact assessment, as well as the next steps for the sustainability of the programme.

The EmpowerHer European partnership includes the following organisations

Universitat de València (UVEG) – Spain

European Platform for Sports and Innovation (EPSI) – Belgium

        Olympiacos S.F.P. – Greece

Cluster Sports and Technology (CST) – Netherlands

Surpass Sport Systems Limited – Ireland

Instytut Chemii Bioorganicznej Polskiej Akademii Nauk (PSNC) – Poland

The organisation of the activities in Piraeus marks an important step in the preparation of the project’s pilot phase and highlights the role of sport as a tool for social empowerment, health and support for women.

Through its participation in the EmpowerHer programme, Olympiacos S.F.P. continues to support initiatives with a strong social impact, promoting equality, inclusion, well-being and the positive impact of sport on society.
