Olympiacos S.F.P. organised an awareness event for parents and athletes within the framework of the European SPEED project

As part of the implementation of the European project SPEED – Sport & Prevention of Emerging Eating Disorders, Olympiacos S.F.P. organised an awareness event for parents and athletes, aiming to strengthen knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention of eating disorders and the promotion of physical and mental health well-being through sport.

The event took place at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF), with the participation of parents, athletes and coaches. Participants had the opportunity to attend informative presentations and take part in interactive discussions within a modern sporting environment. With the contribution of specialised experts, they were informed about the importance of balanced nutrition, positive body image, self-esteem and the overall physical and mental health well-being of young athletes.

Through open and constructive discussion, parents and athletes exchanged views, asked questions and learned about practices that can contribute to the development of a healthy relationship with nutrition, body image and sporting activity.

Particular emphasis was placed on the important role of the family in shaping healthy attitudes towards body weight and body image, as well as on the importance of choosing a sport that responds to each child’s individual needs and characteristics.

The event also highlighted the power of sport as a means of empowerment, personal development and confidence-building when practised within a safe and supportive environment that respects diversity and the individual needs of every young athlete.

This initiative forms part of the broader efforts of the SPEED project to inform and raise awareness within the sporting community about the prevention of emerging eating disorders and the promotion of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Olympiacos S.F.P. remains firmly committed to implementing initiatives that support health, education and the holistic development of young athletes, using sport as a powerful tool for prevention and social awareness.

The SPEED – Sport & Prevention of Emerging Eating Disorders project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport Programme and is implemented by a consortium of European organisations working together to prevent eating disorders through sport.
